History

Confabia Inc. was formed by the principal Filipino shareholder of Customer Contact Center Inc. (C3), a pioneer in the call center industry. C3 was established in May 2000 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of publicly-listed Benpres Holdings Corporation of the Lopez Group of Companies. In 2001, it won its first international account with a major multinational financial services institution, and expanded over five years into 1300 seats and 2000 employees.

Jose Xavier "Eckie" Gonzales, in his capacity as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Benpres Holdings Corporation, established C3 as part of the Lopez Group's diversification into knowledge-intensive businesses, and led the purchase of the company from Benpres in July 2003, together with American and Indian shareholders. He stayed on as CEO until his exit in August 2005, when all shareholder interests were consolidated under the Hinduja Group of India. Through Confabia Inc., established in 2006, Mr. Gonzales reentered the call center space, but with the broader mindset of engaging in multiple facets of Business Process Outsourcing, from contact center servicing to back-office processing and information technology solution engineering.

Ownership

Confabia is 100% owned by Fountel Corporation, an investment holding company that is the principal shareholder in Universal Storefront Services Corporation, the largest Philippine franchisee for Western Union, a US corporation in the money remittance business. Over time, Confabia intends to broaden its ownership base to other sales and marketing partners.
